There are many men and women who aspire to have a modeling career as opposed to an acting or musical career. It can be aspirations of walking on the catwalk donning the latest in fashion, or being in the pages of a popular fashion magazine. Similar to acting, aspiring models have to attend modeling casting calls. How a person conducts himself/herself during a casting call can make or break him/her. As in most cases, first impressions have a lasting effect on how others see you. A casting call is a one-time chance at making a good impression on the casting agents and getting that chance at booking a gig.
Here is a small guideline as to how you can conduct yourself in a modeling casting call. First, you have to make sure that you are properly groomed. This might seem like common sense to most, but there have been incidences where people show up in a casting call in desperate need of a shave. Before showing up at a casting call, make sure that you had your hair done; neatly cut and styled. Don’t count on your good looks, it is after all a modeling casting call, so there will be a lot of good looking people there. Proper grooming can get you a step above others. Secondly, wear clothes that look good on you. It won’t do you any good if you wear the latest fashion and it doesn’t compliment your shape. If you’re not sure about that way you look, get an appointment with a stylist. They can give you tips on how to dress yourself. If you can’t afford one, get help from a fashionable friend. Third, you need to keep your look simple. Never overdo it. Standing out isn’t always a good thing, so don’t try something crazy like showing up to a casting calls in a Mohawk. You need to show you. So keep your hairstyle, makeup and clothes simple.
Finally, be confident. You are an aspiring model. Modesty is not something that the modeling industry applauds. You need to show that you belong in the modeling industry. Never be intimidated by the other beautiful people in the casting call. You are beautiful too. Have the confidence to show it. Show the casting agents what you have to offer. A final friendly warning to all aspiring and current models: If you sense that the modeling casting call is not on the up and up, leave immediately. It’s not worth risking your health and safety just to further your career.
